VIGILANTE

Vigilante is a lot more versatile than simply being a great snag leader!

The colour and low diameter of the 25lb Vigilante makes a great carp fishing hooklink. The muddy brown colour blends in superbly with most lake beds.

It can even be used in a similar way to conventional skinned hooklinks, as the waxy finish can be removed with your fingernail to create suppler section near the hook – yet the overall lower diameter compared to skinned hooklinks offers a much subtler presentation. We recommend a smear of Critical Mass just to ensure it sinks flush to the lake bed.

It’s ideal for extreme situations when normal braided hooklinks cannot cope because they are regularly coming into contact with sharp obstacles such as jagged rocks, mussel beds or sharp flint strewn gravel bars. Stepping up to the thicker, heavier rated 35lb and 45lb version will allow significantly greater abrasion resistance.

Vigilante has also proven hugely popular and reliable as a dedicated catfish hooklink in the higher breaking strains, as the braid easily withstands contact with abrasive pads of small teeth that line the catfish’s cavernous mouth.

  • 100% Dyneema
  • Anti-Friction Coating
  • Available on 20m Spools in 25lb, 35lb and 45lb
  • Colour: Low Viz Brown

TRICKSTER HEAVY

ast-sinking, heavy, braided hooklinks are favoured by many big fish anglers ‘in the know’ because it will naturally settle flush to the lake or river bed. By combining this with an excellent camouflage colour, we have created a very special hooklink that has proven hugely successful during development and immensely popular with some of our field testers.

Now also available in a 30lb version.

Flat Lying

It is superbly strong, using ultra-reliable Dyneema for a fine diameter and superb knot strength, with a smooth finish and soft, supple feel. This flexibility not only ensures unrestricted free movement of the bait at the critical moment that the carp inhales the hook bait into its mouth, but also helps it lay down tidily, out of the way where it is less likely to be noticed by one of these tricky-to-catch, cautious feeding fish.

Trickster Heavy excels as an alternative to the skinned style hook links that the carp see very regularly on the lake bed, and comes into its own when used for solid PVA bagging, presenting a critically balanced bait over light weed, or for super subtle bottom bait presentations.

Top Tip – try a short Trickster Heavy hooklink when fishing particles, as you can go short without impairing the hook bait’s movement.

  • Fast Sinking
  • Extremely Supple for fined down set ups
  • Available on 20m Spools in 15lb, 20lb, 25lb and 30lb.
  • Colour: Camo fleck weave

The new generation range of braided hooklinks have been designed and tested to guarantee the finest standards; improving on other equivalent materials already on the market. With our improved Interweaving technology we have been able to balance and optimise the key attributes – diameter, strength, softness and colour – like never before, to create truly deadly hooklinks, proven in the art of deceiving wary fish.

DISRUPTION

Gardner Disruption hooklinks feature colour segmented skins and fast sinking Dyneema cores. The length of each light and dark colour section is variable in length to enhance the hooklinks excellent camouflage qualities. This effectively breaks up the out line of the hooklink and ensures that the brown version is perfect for fishing over a variety of sandy, gravel, mud and clay lake beds, whilst the green version can be used in weedy environments and the colour sectioning really makes the hooklink blend in with the weed.

Disruption is a semi stiff coated hooklink. The extra rigidity means that the hooklink can be made to kick out away from the lead arrangement ensuring the rig reacts quicker when inhaled by a feeding carp.

Gardner Disruption skinned hooklinks feature:

  • Fast sinking, ultra-supple Dyneema inner core braid means that stripped sections of the hooklink are supple and flexible. Whether you just want a soft section by the hook or you want to create a hinge point the soft core ensures that the rig will perform just how you want it to.
  • Removable, semi-stiff, colour matched outer coating is extremely user friendly, easy to strip and knot, whilst retaining the necessary strength and stiffness to avoid tangles and tie technically advanced rigs.
  • For best results steam to straighten.
  • Disruption is available in 2 camo-colour blends – Weed Green or Mud Brown. Both feature our unique segmentation colour pattern on the skin and the core that effectively breaks up the outline of the hooklink underwater.
  • Available on 20m spools in 15lb and 25lb (rated by knot strength).
  • 15lb – low diameter without compromising strength, abrasion resistance or knotting and stripping.25lb – brutally strong and tough.

SUBTERFUGE

Subterfuge is nearly invisible under the water; its refractive index is almost identical to water which means virtually no light reflects of its surface.

This remarkable fluorocarbon hooklink material has been developed to offer anglers a robust and shockproof 100% fluorocarbon that knots superbly.

  • Soft, supple and extremely pliable, Subterfuge suits the subtlest of presentations and is extremely user friendly.
  • Knots bed down more easily without the ‘pig-tailing’ that can occur with other lines.
  • The unique multi-directional polymer structure gives reinforced strength on the knot unlike other fluorocarbons, which have uni-directional structures and break easily on the knot.
  • Available on 15m spools in 12lb and 15lb.
  • Colour: Ultra Clear.

Subterfuge Super Stiff is also available.

TRIP WIRE

If you’re looking for super stiff high memory monofilament for use with Hinged Stiff rigs, Chod rigs, Clones and even Combi-Rigs then Trip Wire is the perfect material!

Not only does it offer superb knot and tensile strength but it also has an extremely high memory that ensures that the hooklink or hook section retains any curve you wish to form (or stays straight if needed).

Trip Wire is clear, which means it works superbly on all lake beds or in/on weed.

  • Available on 20m spools in 15lb, 20lb & 25lb.
  • Colour: Clear.

SINK SKIN

The two colours available in the Gardner Sink Skin range offer anglers a critical variation in colour and each have a soft style skin. The combination of excellent colours and soft skin means they can be used across a wide variety of angling situations.

The subtle variation in colour from the other skins in our range enables anglers to choose a skinned hooklink that will match the spots onto which they are casting whilst the soft supple finish helps Sink Skin to settle inconspicuously across uneven lake beds helping disguise them from feeding fish. Softer skinned hooklinks also feel more natural to fish grubbing about the lake bed feeding on bait or naturals in the vicinity of your baited rig.

Gardner Sink Skin hooklinks feature:

  • Fast sinking, ultra-supple Dyneema inner core braid allows free movement of small, light hookbaits, greatly improving hooking efficiency and the effectiveness of this type of rig.
  • A soft removable outer coating that is extremely user friendly. It’s easy to strip and knot, whilst retaining just enough rigidity to avoid tangles.
  • For best results steam to straighten.
  • Colours: Camo Green and Camo Brown.
  • Available on 20m spools in 15lb and 25lb (rated by knot strength).
  • 15lb – low diameter without compromising strength, abrasion resistance or knotting and stripping.25lb – brutally strong and tough.

ULTRA SKIN

The new Gardner Ultra Skin is a super soft, supple and ‘skinned’ braided hooklink material.

ULTRA SKIN SILT VERSION IS NOW AVAILABLE!

Ultra Skin is available in three matt colours – Green, Brown and Silt and in three breaking strains – 15lb, 25lb and 35lb. These are perfectly suited a wide range of carp and specialist angling situations.

The 15lb strain has a very low diameter (only 0.50mm) and has been used with huge success by both carp and specimen anglers looking for a hooklink that offers finesse without compromising reliability.

The 25lb version is the all rounder for the carp specialist. It retains a low profile whilst the extra strength doesn’t mean a significant jump up in finished diameter, and at 0.55mm it is still amazingly thin for a 25lb skinned hooklink!

In 35lb Ultra Skin is simply formidable! It is capable of coping with the most arduous big carp fishing situations, despite only being a fraction thicker than the 25lb versions. If you’re fishing for big carp on a big water, near snags or pads, you’ll need a hooklink to rely on and this is it.

  • Skinned hooklinks have been widely available for many years now, Ultra Skin now offers significant improvements in terms of feel, colour, finish and ease of use.
  • It is really the softest and supplest material of its type; with the colours carefully specified and tweaked until we were 100% satisfied they were the best hue and 100% correct.
  • The matt finish isn’t only for show; it really helps the material blend into the aquatic environment and the soft feel means that if a fish bumps into it, whilst feeding on a baited spot, it feels ‘natural’ and is less likely to alarm a fish that may be a bit ‘edgy’. Of course this is also helped by the fact that the material sinks well, and is more likely to settle flush to the lake bed.
  • As anglers we realise that most soft hooklinks need pinning down (because the hook bait tends to drop nearer the lead than the length of the hooklink) and a blob of Critical Mass tungsten putty half way along the hooklink really makes a difference to your final presentation – even with really heavy hooklink materials like Ultra Skin – particularly if you’re fishing on hard spots that are very clean due to feeding fish.
  • Ultra Skin is easy to strip and will not rupture whilst tightening down a well tied ‘figure of 8’ loop knot.
  • The unique polymer mix used in the skin means that Ultra Skin straightens easily*, even just using your fingertips.

TRICK LINK

Stiff rigs and combi rigs that incorporate some semi stiff monofilament have an awesome track record for catching big carp all over the world.

This is because incorporating the correct rigidity in the hooklink stops the hook bait landing in a crumpled heap on the lead. It also helps improve the anti ejection properties of the hooking arrangement and avoid tangles. The materials we’ve used historically have varied enormously – from memory free leaders through to heavy breaking strain Fluorocarbon – but up until now they have all been a compromise between subtlety and the right balance of rigidity.

With the introduction of Trick-Link we think we have developed the perfect boom and stiff link material. This superb colour, low memory monofilament hooklink material has been developed to balance rigidity with that little bit of flexibility that allows the rig to settle just right. We all know that the best presentation will give the best chance of a bite…

Why is it so good?

Firstly, there’s the lovely camouflaged ‘Choddy’ grey/green colour that blends in seamlessly with the bottom of a wide range of aquatic environments – including gravel clay and sand pits, lakes, canals and rivers. Secondly it has superb knot strength and it’s ties up neatly and steams well. All little tweaks that help your finished rig perform to its best possible potential…

For forming loops we recommended using either ‘Figure of 8’ loop knots or the improved ‘Non-Slip’ loop knot to form the nicest, neatest round loop and for maximum strength with Gardner Trick-Link (please check the video in the Video Tab for instructions on how to tie this knot).

*Incorporating looped attachment at the swivel end ensures the hook can twist and take hold more effectively with any stiff hooklink presentation.
