The most commonly asked question by anglers visiting Rum Bridge for the first time has to be: Can I night fish?
And the easy answer is: Yes. With a But.
The ‘But’ being: do you mean ‘night fishing, either whilst awake, or next to your rods in a bivvy or shelter’?
Or do you mean: ‘leaving baited lines in the water whilst you’re dead to the world – with or without a receiver on your pillow – in a closed cabin, several metres away’?
If it’s the former: By all means.
If it’s the latter, I defer to the EA, the relevant section of whose National Rod Fishing Byelaws reads:
When you fish with multiple rods and lines, you must place each rod close together so that the total distance between the outermost fishing rods does not exceed 3m.
It is illegal to leave a rod and line unattended with its bait or hook in the water. You must be in control of your rod and line at all times.
Or, put more succinctly: No.
