Thanks to everyone who attended our latest Family Fishing Day. It was great to see a few fish on the bank; and smiles on the faces of our beginner anglers.
Given the positive response we received from parents, we’ve now decided to run a more structured follow-up course – specifically an Angling Trust accredited CAST fishing skills training award – during the summer holidays; to build on these excellent foundations and share valuable, measurable skills that will help first-time fisherfolk to tackle new lakes and rivers with confidence.
Delivered by Dave and John – both highly trained, Angling Trust licensed coaches – CAST is a nationally recognised course, with a structured set of tasks and ‘learning outcomes’.
Specifically, over six weeks, beginner anglers will learn to…
* Select the most appropriate method for each fishing situation
* Identify suitable areas to fish
* Understand the significance of different weather and water conditions
* Assemble their rod, reel and / or pole
* Play, land, unhook and safely handle fish
* And much, much more
… in other words, acquiring the knowledge they need to catch more fish, more quickly.
All children who achieve the required standard will receive a certificate and cloth badge. And the course will culminate in a fishing match, with prizes donated by Rum Bridge Fisheries.
Unfortunately… in order to give all the participants the personal attention they need – and of course to comply with those pesky Health & Safety regulations – we are only able to accommodate a maximum of eight children; so please contact us right away, to register your interest.
The dates are as follows:
Tue 6 August
Tue 13 August
Tue 20 August
Tue 27 August
Tue 3 September
Sat 7 September
Cost will be £15 per person/per session inc all tackle and bait; and parents are encouraged to attend. With which in mind, tea and coffee will also be provided!
