‘Nul points’ so far, for the weekend-anglers on the Road and Back lakes; prompting a timely reminder for prospective visitors…
Though both these ponds are small, and very well stocked, they’re also weedy as you like, stuffed full of naturals, and very tricky to fish – trickier, I would argue, than many lower-stocked gravel pits many times the size.
So, to paraphrase Robert Louis Stevenson: to travel hopefully may be better than to arrive.
Meaning, if your goal in visiting Rum Bridge is simply to chillout – to enjoy your time on the bank, with great facilities and the possibility (if not prospect) of banking a big un – come on down.
And of course if you’re an experienced carper, willing to work at your fishing, you’re in with a great chance of a new PB.
If, however, you believe tiny venues + big fish = a quick and easy UK forty… you will be disappointed.
You have been warned.
See you soon?
