Nestling alongside the banks of the River Stour, tree-lined and scattered with dot islands, bars, weed and reed beds, lilies and other carpy features, the intimate Rum Bridge Back Lake will appeal to specimen carp anglers, populated (as it is) only by large mirror and common carp ranging from 22lbs to a current lake record of 42lb 11oz.
During the peak season, the lake is usually limited to just three anglers and their partners, with fishing for individual anglers from the lakeside ‘Carper’s Cabin’ (double) pod, Patsy’s Pod (which has a kingsize and single bed) and the twin-bed Baywatch tipi.
Hot showers, flush toilets and a field kitchen are available to all our guests. Compostable ‘eco’ toilets are located on all three Rum Bridge lakes. And the extensively stocked onsite tackle and bait shop offers a comprehensive selection of tackle and bait.
Carol’s Kitchen serves up an extensive menu of hot and cold snacks, seven days a week. And our evening meal delivery service means you won’t even have to leave your swim – making long stay carping an altogether more civilized affair.
CARPER’s CABIN
This fully insulated wooden glamping pod can be equipped with either a double OR twin beds, solar lighting/device charging, night heater and outdoor seating area with space for an optional firepit/BBQ (available to hire).
The cabin’s exclusive bankside area features a dedicated fishing swim with space for an additional tent or bivvy if required.
All guests have access to nearby showers and toilets, a dedicated sitting-out area and a small ‘field kitchen’(food prep area) with worktop, butler sink and hot and cold running water.

FULL DISCLOSURE!
Though small, at around an acre, the Rum Bridge Back Lake can be weedy and extremely tricky to fish – trickier, indeed, than many lower stocked gravel pits several times the size.
So, please DO NOT BOOK expecting to ‘bag up’. You might. But more likely… you won’t. Nonetheless, with proper English fish averaging around 34lbs to target, the rewards are there for anglers with the expertise… and patience.
Either way – whether you’re ‘up for the challenge’, or just seeking to get away from it all, in the heart of the Suffolk countryside – Rum Bridge could be just the tonic you need.
