Unsurprisingly, given the conditions, it’s been a quiet week.
In fact, I could count the number of carp caught from the Back and Road lakes on the fingers of no hands.
But hey; that’s carp fishing – especially on tricky, intimate ponds like these: the carp are mistresses of their own environment.
They know when they’re being fished for; and savvy anglers must adapt accordingly.
Same apples to The Moat.
Although theoretically 100 or more carp (not to mention rakes of silvers, tench, perch and crucians) should make for easy fishing, the only guys who are getting among the carp are the experienced match anglers who’ve learned to ring the changes.
So please don’t rock up expecting to fill your boots; it just isn’t going to happen till the weather – and the water – warm up.
