Klin-ik, Propolis, MediCare, Steri-7… brand notwithstanding, every carp angler understands the need for effective carp care, right? Well, actually, no – it seems they don’t.
In fact, over the last month, I’ve spoken to a couple of anglers, newcomers to the pond, who profess they “never heard of such a thing”. Yes, really.
Indeed, one particular chap appeared most affronted when asked to confirm his antiseptic of choice – believing that I was ‘casting nasturtiums’ regarding his personal hygiene.
Am I alone in being staggered by this? And more staggered still by the fact that a couple of lakes, whose rules I’ve since scrutinised, also overlook what, surely, should be an essential addition to any carper’s kitbag?
My question, therefore: is anyone (else) out there unaware of the importance of at least some means of treating hook holds, lifted scales and the like?
If so, please: wise-up; because it’s one rule that’s never going to change at Rum Bridge – and I hope will soon be added by the handful of other fishery-owners who’ve yet to mandate its use on theirs.
