Winter Improvements at Rum Bridge: Preparing the Lakeside Retreat for a New Season
As winter settled across Suffolk, Rum Bridge became quieter. The lakes grew still, the wildlife returned to the reeds, and the colder months gave us the opportunity to focus on something important. While fewer guests were on site, we began working behind the scenes to improve Rum Bridge ready for the new season.
Our goal was simple. We wanted to make Rum Bridge an even better place for people to slow down, relax, and enjoy time by the water.
Quiet Months, Busy Work
Although the lakes may have looked peaceful during winter, plenty was happening around the site. The team spent months carrying out improvements, repairs, and upgrades designed to make every visit more comfortable and enjoyable.
Winter is the ideal time for this work. Without the bustle of summer visitors, we can focus fully on maintaining and improving the site. This ensures that when spring arrives, Rum Bridge is ready to welcome guests back to the lakes.
New Fire Pits for Cosy Evenings
One of the first improvements we introduced this winter was the addition of new fire pits around the site.
Evenings by the fire are one of the most memorable parts of a countryside stay. After a day of fishing or exploring the local area, many guests enjoy gathering around the fire as the sun sets over the lakes.
The new fire pits make this experience even better. Guests can now enjoy warm, relaxed evenings outdoors while watching the light fade across the water.

Upgraded Shower Facilities
Comfort is an important part of any glamping experience. While Rum Bridge is designed to feel close to nature, we know that good facilities make a real difference to our guests.
Over the winter we upgraded the shower facilities across the site. These improvements were made to ensure they are cleaner, more comfortable, and easier to use.

General Maintenance Across the Site
Alongside the larger improvements, we also spent time carrying out general maintenance across Rum Bridge.
This included maintaining the grounds, repairing small areas of wear and tear, and making sure everything around the site is safe, tidy, and welcoming.
These smaller tasks are easy to overlook, yet they play an important role in keeping the site enjoyable for everyone. Maintaining a calm, well cared for environment helps Rum Bridge remain the peaceful retreat our guests value.
A Dedicated Space for the Sauna Truck
One of the most exciting additions this season is the creation of a dedicated space for our sauna truck.
Starting this season, the sauna truck will visit Rum Bridge every week. This offers guests the chance to enjoy a unique experience beside the lakes.
After a day outdoors, stepping into a warm sauna is the perfect way to unwind. It creates a moment of calm and relaxation that fits perfectly with the spirit of Rum Bridge.
The dedicated sauna area ensures guests can enjoy this experience comfortably during their stay.
